Christmas jazz festival in Estonia takes place every year. In 2011, the vocal group Estonian voices and Britt Quentin were invited to start working together in some workshop sessions during the year 2011 to finally give 2 concerts for this event.
Christmas jazz festival is a 2-week dedicated to chamber and vocal jazz, bringing top jazz artists from everywhere in the world to Estonia. This year, Britt Quentin shared the stage with Estonian voices for 2 concerts performing Christmas songs. Estonian voices is a vocal group born in 2011, after meeting at Christmas Jazz Festival 2010. The idea of putting together a vocal ensemble started with Tallinn 2011 Capital of Culture in cooperation with Estonian Jazz Union and Jazzkaar Festival. They invited Britt Quentin from M-Pact to start working with the new group. The idea was to organize a few workshops all the year round to finally to give 2 concerts together. You can find more detail, and photos + videos of some workshop sessions here.
The first part of the concert was done by Estonian voices only, singing especially Estonian songs, while Britt Quentin played the second part with them and some musicians. Here is a video if you missed the show. You can hear Britt Quentin and Estonian voices singing the last song of the show and receiving flowers at the end. They ended their concert with the classic Christmas carol “I’ll be home for Christmas”, singing together sometimes with solo sections by Britt.
